LitFest celebrates its third birthday to the sound of rapturous applause

Updated: Aug 11

A music festival in Litlington, a village just outside Royston, came of age last Saturday, 27 July, on a sunny summer's day. Just over 350 people turned out over the course of the day to be entertained by the incredibly talented mix of performers.

The thrilling entertainment came from a selection of mainly local, authentic, singer-songwriters playing out to their original music as well as some well-known covers and crowd favourites to rounds and rounds of rapturous applause by the engaged audience on the edge of their seats in anticipation for what was to come next.

LitFest saw hundreds of visitors throughout the day from the local community in the Royston and surrounding villages, which is a really important aspect for the event organisers. LitFest is put on by Litlington's local non-league football club, Litlington AFC, and is put on by the community, for the community. To see its residents, young and old, from Litlington and the nearby villages and towns keen to join us, support, and enjoy the day so much is really positive to know that an event like this can really bring a whole community together for a celebration of what the local area can provide. With all of the proceeds going back into the community with £1,860 raised for Litlington AFC to invest in their season ahead.

LitFest puts on a music festival; however, the event was born from wanting to put on some live music after a non-league pre-season football tournament that still happens before the music kicks off. Litlington AFC uses it as a tune-up for the upcoming season and then enjoys the festival alongside the local community.

Everyone's onto a winner here, one where either win, lose, or draw in the football, by the end of the day, everybody goes home a winner after enjoying great music, entertainment, food, and drinks.
